The Runaways!
So, this year in my first grade class, I have some really sweet kids. I also have some that have a harder time following the rules. This past week was the worst! I have to little girls, who we will call H and L for their own safety. Well, H and L decided about a month ago that they hated their moms and that they wanted to run away. They also decided that the perfect time to do it was at school. At lunch recess, they hid between the double doors and watched the school aide walk by and then made a run for it. Obviously, when they didn't come back to class, I called the office and told them they were missing. We had to do a perimeter search and then we had to call 911. The police came and made me go with them all over the school and search in every classroom and nook and cranny. Well, after putting me through an enormous amount of stress and worry, the girls were found playing in a brickyard by the brickyard employees about 8 blocks away. I was glad they were safe, but when they came back to school the next day, showing no remorse with plans to do it again, I got mad. Needless to say, H and L no longer go to recess or running time and they now enjoy the company of four blank walls as they eat their lunch. Please remind your children that if they are going to run away, there will be someone who misses them and will want them found. (H and L originally thought they were going to go live in a cave in the mountains.) OH and...another teacher at my school has talked about these two girls and said, so the H stands for Hellion and the L stand for Liar, right? RIGHT!
Cute Ty
Ty is our nephew. He is the only nephew on Michelle's side. He is so cute and very spoiled. He came to stay with Michelle's parents while Rachel and Ethan were out of town. He got a lot of presents for his birthday and provided many smiles for all. I got to help him open his presents and get him interested in them. We gave him a Mr. Potato Head, which was definitly not as cool as the laptop and See'n'Say that he got. Anyway, he is so funny with his few words. When his mom finally came to pick him up, he just reached out for her and said, "Happy, Happy!" Clayton has also taught him to say "Peace Out!" Clayton also had the Transformers call Ty and tell him that Ethan was the enemy and that he needed to fight against him. When the phone call was over, Ty said in his happy little voice, "Ba-Bye!" and hung up the phone. Obviously he didn't really care that Ethan was the enemy. We love Ty and all the cute things he does!

ABOUT TIME
For those of you who know our friends Ross and Gina Quigley, they finally got married last Wednesday and we are so happy for them. Despite the cooler temperatures and the rain it made for an awesome day. They have been dating for a long time now and we are happy to see that they took the jump. The wedding was at the Salt Lake Temple and the reception was at the Gallivan Center. After helping them with the reception, Michelle and I are thinking about going into the wedding planning business. It was funny because Michelle and I and other friends helped with the reception and stuff. The next day at work, a lady came up to me and asked, "Do you work at the Gallivan Center?" and I didn't put two and two together and didn't really understand why she would be asking me that, so I said "no, why do you ask" and she said "well I saw you there last night and you were cleaning and checking everything so I just figured you were working." So how funny is that? All and all it was an awesome wedding and I hope Gina and Ross would say the same. We expect payment soon. We're happy for you guys.
Congrats.

UGLY Wallpaper!
So, we are slowly doing some home improvements to our condo. The last two weeks we have taken down our bathroom lights that were original to the condo in 1979. Underneath the light was this wallpaper! Can you imagine waking up to take a shower surrounded by that? WOW, are we glad that people now believe in painting walls.
On another subject, Michelle had Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. She acutally had one parent of a really unruley child tell her that there was nothing she could do to control her child because the child is a Virgo and that is just the way they are. She had a hard time not laughing. She also has advice for any parent going to conferences. Ask questions, be nice, bring the teacher chocolate and show up early.

Ouch!!! Clayton's Accident
J.K this didn't happen to me. Bankers don't get hurt that bad. It has been an interesting couple of weeks for the Berg family. As you can tell we have spent a little bit of time at the hospital with Cale (clayton's brother) in the hospital. This picture was taken in the E.R. only a couple minutes after they drilled a hole into Cales leg to pull his femur down from his pelvic bone. The story is that Cale was trimming a tree and as he was pulling himself up from a limb that he thought was safe, the limb broke and sent Cale falling 20, yes 20 feet down to the gound. He almost landed on one of the crew members. Cale fell on his right leg and his femur jammed itself up to his pelvic bone and practically shattered his pelvic bone into alot of pieces. Luckily his femur bone is fine. He also has 3 compressed fractured vertabre (I have no idea what that means but I'm sure it hurts) and a broken wrist and thumb. He waited a couple of days to have surgery on his pelvic bone. He had the best surgeon in the place. Dr. Kubiac performed a 7 hour surgery on his pelvic bone putting all sorts of pins and plates in his bone to try and put it back together. After all was said and done Cale is doing great and is now in a rehabilitation center and back to his old self. We really do miss the old times though in the hospital when Cale would say weird things like "Am I canning tomatoes, how many more do I need to put in the pan? Do we have a bigger pan? Why does Melody keep telling me to turn up the oven?" He will be doing physical therapy for a couple of months and for those of us who know Cale we know it won't take him as long as everyone thinks it's going to. Please keep Cale in your prayers and thoughts and we know he will make a speedy recovery.
P.S. the strings coming from the bult are connected to a pully that then had a big weight at the end of it to keep his leg in place, it was really gross.
